Offered For Sale by the California Automobile Museum

A 1979 Ford F-250 Ranger Camper Special Super Cab Long Bed Pick Up truck. When trucks are being considered, not often do you find a work horse that has not been used, abused, worn and beaten into scrap. The pickup in general was designed for just that purpose. In the case of this Ford, this one enjoyed quite a different life. Although not babied, it was well cared for and maintained, used mainly for camping and other outings. The truck made it to where it is today in relatively good original shape. The exterior of this truck wears a nice non original paint, updated from the original brown and yellow combination used quite often in the 1970s and shown in 2 of the photos. The color is fitting to the style and lines of the truck and in appearance could pass for an original color if one had no knowledge of the paint options offered for that year. While nice, the paint is not perfect, showing some signs of oxidation and other blemishes such as scratches and chips. The body is very straight. There are no significant dents, major damage, outrageous alterations or serious rust present. The only rust found is along the roof drip rails over both rear side windows. This is not real significant but small bubbles are visible upon close inspection. There are some holes drilled into the top edge of the bed, done so for hardware to fasten the camper shell, lumber rack, and other accessories used over the years. There are also 8 load tie downs installed along the outer edges of the bed. There is a small hole drilled into the floor of the bed assumingly done for the drain of the camper. On the driver's side of the bed, there is a 120 vac receptacle installed. There are also 4 anchor points for a slide in camper. For paint issues, the most visible blemishes can be found on the passenger's side of the bed just above and behind the rear wheel. The paint is scratched and chipped and the mouldings are slightly damaged. There are also two other areas where the body side mouldings are damaged; one being around the passenger's side tail light and the other at the far rear corner of the driver's side. The bed is in good shape with only surface rust present and a few small dents in the wheel housings. The tail gate has 3 fairly sizable dents along the top ridge but it still operated freely and properly. The truck has an integrated receiver style tow hitch on the rear bumper as well as 7 way wiring. The bumper is slightly bent on the passenger's side but not easily noticeable. For convenience, this truck is equipped with dual fuel tanks and a nice storage compartment on the passenger's side of the bed. It also has Rustler running boards on both sides, mud flaps in the rear, extended trailer/camper mirrors, and a sliding rear window. (latch broken) All of the glass on the truck is in great shape. There are some small scratches on the driver's side door glass but aside from that, it is all clean and clear. The exterior lighting is mostly functional with decent lenses. The lenses are faded as can be expected for plastic of this age but only the left front parking lamp lens is chipped. The two side front marker lights are not working and the left front parking light does not work. Also the reverse lights do not operate. The control for the fog lights and cargo light could not be located so those may or may not work. These may just be simple bulb replacements to get them going. On the interior, this truck is comfortable for 4 adults but could accommodate 5 with safety belts. The original front seats have been removed and a more comfortable option installed consisting of reclining bucket seats and a center arm rest/console complete with storage and cup hold
