With 17 official awards under its belt, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most awarded sports utility vehicle to date. This is a mark of quality. Offering unmatched off-road capabilities, road-burning performance, and exquisite luxury and style, it's no wonder this 4th-generation midsize SUV is so celebrated.
Jeep Grand Cherokee 2014 features several improvements. In this model year, fuel efficiency gets a boost, thanks to a new EcoDiesel engine, and 8-speed automatic transmission is made available for all powertrains. The exterior of the SUV has been refreshed styling wise, and the interior provides a new choice of colors.
2014 also introduces the new Premium Summit vehicle, an in-built Collision Warning System, and an advanced infotainment system known as UConnect Access.
2014’s Jeep Grand Cherokee makes available 3 engine options: a 3.6-liter V6, a 5.7-liter Hemi V8, and a 3.0-liter diesel V6. There is also a SRT version of the vehicle, which features a massive 6.4-liter V8 capable of pushing 470 horsepower to the wheels. All models offer an 8-speed automatic transmission. Towing capacity on the V6s is now 6,200 pounds.
In terms of appearance, the 2014 Grand Cherokee is modern and sophisticated, yet it doesn’t forget its off-road routes. The signature front grille, headlights, and front bumper cover have been restyled to offer a more consistent look. The pricier Grand Cherokees feature extra lashings of chrome and flaunt rear and front LED light pipes.
Standard exterior features include power/heated door mirrors, rear spoiler, fully automatic headlights, front fog lights, variably intermittent wipers, rear window wiper, and rear window defroster. Depending on model, 2014 buyers also get alloy wheels and 17-20-inch tires. The Laredo comes with a liftgate, while the other models offer a power liftgate.
Drivers looking to upgrade up their GC’s, other optional extras are available. Purchasable extras include trailer hitch receiver, dual exhausts (standard in the Limited, Overland, and Summit), skid plates, auto-dimming door mirrors, and rain sensing wipers.
Those looking to cruise in comfort and style can rest assured that the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers. Expect air conditioning, temperature control, speed control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power front windows, and remote keyless entry as standard convenience features. Handy beverage holders can be found in the front and rear.
Optional equipment varies based on model. The memory seat comes standard in all models but the Laredo. A power moonroof is available at an additional cost in the Laredo and Limited Grand Cherokees, but comes standard in the other two models. The heated steering wheel is fitted standard in everything except the Laredo. All vehicles have power steering.
Safety wise, drivers can expect electronic stability, traction control, immobilizer, panic alarm, ABS brakes, and brake assist. There are also dual front/front side impact airbags, as well as a knee airbag, an overhead airbag, and an occupant sensing airbag. For comfort, the vehicle offers front buckets seats, rear split bench seats with armrests, and ample space.
