This 1990 Volkswagen Jetta GLI was sold new by Towson Valley Volkswagen of Cockeysville, Maryland and exported to Alberta, Canada in 2014 prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition and re-importation to the United States in June 2020. The car is finished in teal over gray cloth and powered by a rebuilt 2.0-liter inline four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. A cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment carried out during between 2017 and 2019 is said to have totaled over $30k CAD and included the aforementioned engine refresh as well as a repaint, suspension and braking system overhauls, an air conditioning service and refrigerant recharge, installation of a Techtonics exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler, and more. The body was refinished during previous ownership in Calypso Metallic (LA6Z) and features satin black window trim, bumpers, side moldings, and fender flares as well as a front air dam and a rear lip spoiler. Paint protection film has been applied to the hood, front fenders, mirror caps, and leading edge of the roof. Services performed in recent mileage included installing struts with lowering springs as well as replacing the front sway bar bushings, end links, and brake rotors and pads at each corner. Changes of the power steering and brake fluids were also completed in 2017. The right rear wheel bearing was adjusted in 2019. The cabin is upholstered in gray cloth with matching carpets, two-tone door panels, and a dash trimmed in black vinyl. The engine was removed and rebuilt in 2019 by Sheni’s Auto Trend of Calgary, Alberta with a machining of the cylinder head, completion of a valve job, and replacement of the piston rings, rod bearings, fuel injector O-rings, oil pump seal, and multiple gaskets. Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. An oil pan heating element has been fitted, and a Techtonics exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler was installed in June 2017.
