Chassis No. 82924 was completed at the Bremen plant on the third week of March 1999 and safely expedited to its designated authorized center of Motor Werks Mercedes-Benz in Barrington, Illinois.
The automobile is finished in the dazzling Smoke Silver metallic paint (702) over Saffron Nappa (234) leather and Mocca top roll, adorned by burl walnut veneers, and features a power-operated Brown convertible top as well as a body-colored removable hard top.
The SL 500 was delivered to its new proud owner on July 3, 1999 and registered in the village of West Dundee in Kane County, Illinois which remained for the next 21 years. During over two decades, the motorcar accumulated just 6,470 miles and curated to the highest standards.
After a brief 15-month hiatus in Tacoma, Washington the Roadster was subsequently sold to a Miami private collector and marque enthusiast in June 2021, used sparingly by clocking a little shy of 100 careful miles. In the course of its last custodianship, the automobile was always stored indoors and never exposed to inclement weather.
The Smoke Silver livery still retains its first paint glaze and it is free of any blemishes or imperfections. The cabin is showroom fresh with all leather surfaces and burl wood veneers presented in impossibly near-new condition.
All systems are functioning as the day it left the Bremen assembly line with the canvas convertible top free of any creases or perforations, operating flawlessly. The engine bay and under-chassis are equally impressive, further attesting to the fastidious care the SL has received throughout its life.
The motorcar is fitted with five-spoke 18? AMG wheels and 245/40 Dunlop SP Sport 9000 tires are mounted respectively. Although the automobile has been in preservation status for quite some time, preventive service maintenance was carried out by its last caretaker on March 24, 2023.
The sale of the SL 500 is accompanied by the owner’s manuals, service booklet, one key with alarm fob, radio instructions book & card, wheel torque specifications and service tags, tool roll kit, jack, first aid kit, hard top stand, rear windscreen, model branded floor mats, boot mounted CD changer and all equipment as supplied by the manufacturer at the time of delivery. A non-derogatory Carfax report is also available upon request.
