Seller's Notes

1970 Chevrolet Camaro "Dick Brown" Trans Am For Sale- Campaigned In The 1971 & 1972 Trans Am Season LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Dick Brown Trans Am Race Car The second-gen Chevrolet Camaro was introduced in the spring of 1970, four years after General Motors had brought their pony car to market. The all new second-gen Camaro was a significant departure from its predecessor, being longer, wider, and lower than the first gen. These changes lend themselves well to the new Camaro becoming a dominant race car in the Trans Am Series. The year 1970 is considered by many as the zenith for Trans-Am racing with factory-backed entries from Ford, Chevrolet, AMC, Pontiac, Plymouth, and Dodge. The series attracted the best racing teams and drivers such as Penske Racing/Mark Donohue, Bud Moore Engineering/Parnelli Jones, Chaparral Racing/Jim Hall, AAR/Dan Gurney and Autodynamics/Sam Posey. This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was initially purchased by Don Duncan from Nurse Chevrolet in Toronto, Canada. Don had traded his 1968 Corvette for this Camaro with the intention of having it prepared for racing in Trans Am. He had enlisted John Todds of TODCO Racing to build his Z28 into an SCCA Trans-Am legal race car. Now with a fully raced prepared car, they needed a competitive driver that could bring home some silverware. Canadian race car driver Dick Brown had been looking for a ride for the 1971 Trans Am season but had a hard time convincing local Canadian sponsors to invest in an American based Trans Am series. Prior to the 1971 Trans-Am season, had been trying to find the funds together to get a seat in a Bud Moore Engineering Mustang. He needed to raise to $75,000 to race a Bud Moore Mustang as the #2 team car to Parnelli Jones. Unfortunately, in the end he came up short by about $25,000.00. Dick then got a call from John Todds who asked him to drive this Camaro in the 1971 season. Dick agreed and this Camaro was raced in the 1971 Trans-Am series as a Todco Racing entry. The 1971 season proved to be tough as the car incurred many technical difficulties resulting in multiple DNFs. , For 1972, the car received a fresh new look painted Sunoco Blue and ran under the banner of Sunoco of Canada, Gagnon Spring, and Duncan Chevrolet. During the 1972 SCCA Trans-Am season, this car had much better success than the year prior. In the four SCCA Trans-Am events contested, this car’s best finishes were an impressive 5th place finish at the Road America Trans-Am, and a 6th place at Watkins Glen. Dick Brown also won the Mayor’s Cup Race at the 1972 Molson Grand Prix/Trois Rivieres weekend in this car. Documenting this special Trans Am racer, is binders full of newspaper articles, period photographs, SVRA logbook, SVRA brass tag, service receipts, ownership history and much more. Don’t miss this opportunity to acquire a Trans Am series racer with historical provenance that is immediately eligible for vintage racing including the prestigious Monterey Historics. This Historic Trans Am eligible car is a true front runner, as it raced in period with Porsche 917 brakes and a fully lightened body. A unique opportunity to purchase a very special historically significant piece of Tran Am history. Additional Details: 1970 CHEVROLET CAMARO -
