Seller's Notes

Cruisin Classics is pleased to present this 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton. The name Phaeton comes from the open 4-wheel horsedrawn carriages of the 18th and 19th centuries and was given to this car due to its 4-door side window-less convertible configuration. The Phaeton was one of 19 body styles available from Ford in 1929 and accounted for only about 3% of the 1.5 million Model A's sold domestically that year. Hence, it's not every day that you see one of these cool drop-top touring cars. Today, this '29 comes to us dressed in a coat of grey paint on the body with black fenders and a dark green upper-body strip with white pin-stripes – a great color combination. The paint is driver-quality and does have some chips, scratches, and occasional imperfections. Up front is a chrome-shrouded radiator with a Ford logo, a First Prize badge from 1970, and a stone guard to keep things looking nice. Sitting atop the radiator's cap is a gleaming flying quail ornament. The radiator is flanked by big 8 wide chrome headlights mounted on a black bar that stretches from fender to fender. You'll also find a black horn mounted under this bar on the driver's side. Down low is a chrome bumper with a Ford badge/flag holder at the center. The hood features louvered side vents and dual folding doors with props to keep them up while working on the engine. The gas fill is located in the area between the hood and the windshield. Beside the hood on the driver's side is an older-looking Lincoln Highway decal. The windshield swings out from the bottom just as designed, providing the desired amount of airflow into the car. Attached to the sides of the windshield frame are wing windows with floral design stickers and side mirrors. The black convertible top goes up and down easily and it's in exceptionally good condition with a clear rear window. A set of very nice matching side curtains with clear plastic windows comes with the car as well as a black boot cover to put on the top when it's down. The running boards are both rock solid and offer front and rear Ford logo step plates on both sides. The cherry on top of the side view is the black wire-spoke wheels with bright Ford center caps all shod in 4-ply polyester wide white wall tires from the Lester Tire Company. Around the back, you'll find chrome bumperettes that flank a matching spare tire with a brown vinyl Ford cover. Ahead of the spare is a fold-down chrome and wood luggage rack that is home to a black vinyl cargo chest. Unfortunately, the latches on the chest are locked and we do not have a key to open them. There is a single rear taillight (DuoLamp label) on the driver's rear fender. Lift the hood doors to find a largely stock engine bay that is home to a green 200.5 ci inline 4-cylinder engine rated at 40hp. The engine bay is expectedly simplistic and without any frills. The electrical system is still a 6-volt and the battery is mounted on the driver's side of the firewall. (Please note - The video incorrectly claims this to be a 12-volt it is a 6-volt.) You'll find the original Ford Patent tag on the firewall's passenger side. Exhaust flows from a cast manifold, through a muffler, and empties at the rear axle. Steering is manual, as are the mechanical drum brakes. The 4-cylinder is mated to a 3-speed unsynchronized selective gearbox that shifts easily. Open the door to find a very clean and simple interior. The door panels, kick panels, side panels, and bench seats are covered in matching black vinyl. The seats are comfortable and in very good condition with no rips, tears, or signs of wear. Both front and rear seats are equipped with seatbelts. The floors are covered with hard rubber-fitted mats with an attractive pattern. Rising up from the front floor is a chrome emergency brake handle and a chrome shifter with a black ball for the 3-speed transmission. Between the shifter and the seat on the floor is a black plastic cup holder/caddy that has been screwed down to the floor. Similarly,
