1991 Volkswagen Golf Overview

The 1991 Volkswagen Golf is part of the model's second generation, which was notable for bringing the Golf into the modern age with more advanced features and improved performance. The Golf came with a choice of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that delivered 100 horsepower, or a 2.0-liter version with an improved output of 134 horsepower. Both engines were paired with a standard 5-speed manual transmission, while a 4-speed automatic was also available. The front-wheel-drive hatchback was offered with both two and four-door body styles. Despite its compact dimensions, the Golf attracted praise for its practicality thanks to its versatile interior and large trunk. Inside, it featured essential equipment but lacked some modern amenities; however, the GTI trims came with more essential and sporty features. Although the 1991 model didn't feature the most advanced safety or tech, it did offer driver-side airbags for improved safety.
