The 1992 Subaru Legacy represents the first generation of Subaru's popular midsize sedan, making quite an impact on the All-Wheel-Drive market. The Legacy was offered in several trims including base, L, LS, and LSi, along with the turbocharged sporty Legacy Sport Sedan. From the conservative Base and L trims to the more luxurious LS and LSi models, Subaru strived to offer something for everyone. The base engine was a 2.2-liter flat-four producing 130 horsepower, while a potent turbocharged version was also available, enhancing the power output to 160 horsepower. Both engines came mated to a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission. The iconic Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system was standard on all but the base model. Despite its age, the '92 Legacy came fairly well equipped with features, such as power windows and locks, a tilt steering wheel, and an AM/FM stereo.
