The 1996 Chevrolet Caprice was part of the car's fourth and final generation. This full-size sedan came with a choice of two engines: a 4.3-liter V8 producing 200 horsepower, or an optional 5.7-liter V8 with 260 horsepower. Both options were paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. This rear-wheel-drive vehicle came in two trims: Base and Classic. One of the defining characteristics of the 1996 Caprice was its spacious interior and large trunk capacity. While not heavy on modern infotainment features, the Caprice included power windows and locks, a power driver's seat, air conditioning, and an AM/FM stereo as standard features on the Classic trim. Unfortunately, this model did not fare so well in safety tests at the time.
