The 1996 Chrysler Sebring is part of the first-generation of Sebring models. It was offered as a coupe or convertible with two trim levels: JX and JXi. The base engine, a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, produced 140 horsepower, while a stronger 2.5-liter V6 boasting 155 horsepower was optional. Both engines transmitted power to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission. Notable features for the time included optional leather seats, a power driver's seat, and an optional Infinity sound system with CD player. The Sebring Convertible was awarded the top safety rating from the IIHS for its frontal crash performance.
