The 1996 Dodge Ram is part of the second generation of Ram trucks, revered for its bold, big-rig styling that broke away from the conventional pickup design. The truck offers a rear-wheel-drive layout, with optional 4-wheel drive. Available trims include the base-level 1500 as well as the more robust 2500 and 3500 series. Under the hood, Ram buyers could opt for a 5.2-liter V8, a 5.9-liter V8, or the powerful 8.0-liter V10. All engines are paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The model year introduced optional side-door for extended-cab models and offered a new Work Special package with a 220-hp V6 engine. Though infotainment features were basic by today's standards, the Ram provided a comfortable and roomy cabin.
