The 1996 Ford Ranger is part of the second generation of this compact pickup truck. Initially available in three trims: XL, XLT, and Splash, the Ranger offered a range of engine options from a 2.3L inline-four producing 112 hp to a 4.0L V6 delivering 160 hp. All engines were available with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive standard and four-wheel drive optional. Overall, the '96 Ranger was known for its reliable performance and decent fuel economy for the era. Unfortunately, by modern standards, the safety features were limited, primarily consisting of front airbags and anti-lock brakes. Its infotainment system lacked the advanced features seen in current models, instead offering an AM/FM radio and an optional cassette player.
