The 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT was a part of the Japanese grand tourer’s second-generation lineup. It came in four trims: base, SL, VR-4, and the Spyder convertible. The front-wheel drive (FWD) base model had a 3.0L V6 engine with 222 hp, while the SL boasted a similar engine but added luxury elements. The VR-4 model was another beast, offering AWD and a twin-turbocharged version of the V6 capable of 320 hp. The 3000GT offered a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. It was praised for its high-tech features of the time, including active aerodynamics and four-wheel steering. Note that 1996 marked the introduction of the unique Spyder hardtop convertible version. However, due to its high price for the era, it wasn’t widely popular and was discontinued in 1999.
