1996 Volkswagen Bus Overview

Regrettably, there was no 1996 Volkswagen Bus model produced. The original Volkswagen Bus, known as the Type 2, ceased production in the United States in 1979 due to safety regulations. Its successor, the Volkswagen Vanagon, was sold until 1992. The next Volkswagen minivan available in the U.S. after the Vanagon was the EuroVan, which was not sold in this market in 1996. In this timeframe, the EuroVan was available with a 109-horsepower, 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Key selling points of these Volkswagen vans were their large, versatile interior spaces and distinctive designs.
