The 1997 Dodge Intrepid forms part of the second generation, full-size sedan offering from Dodge. It was known for its cab-forward design. Under the hood, two engine choices included a 3.3-liter V6 producing 158 horsepower and a 3.5-liter V6 producing 214 horsepower, both mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. It came with only a front-wheel drive configuration. The Intrepid was offered in two trims - Base and ES. Key safety features included dual airbags and ABS, although the latter was an optional feature. There was no built-in infotainment system available during this model-year, as it was a luxury at the time, outside of a standard AM/FM radio with a cassette player.
