1997 Ford F-250 Overview

The 1997 Ford F-250 belongs to the ninth generation (1992–1997) of Ford's esteemed F-Series lineup. This year model still offered a Heavy-Duty variant aimed at commercial use and more intense towing needs. Engine options ranged from a 4.9L inline six-cylinder, a 5.8L V8, to a 7.3L V8 PowerStroke diesel, with both manual and automatic transmissions available. The F-250 was revered for its reputation of strong build quality and robust mechanicals, aimed at showing its prowess for heavier jobs, whether in terms of towing or off-road capabilities. This was further amplified with optional four-wheel-drive (4WD) capabilities across all trims. One noteworthy update in 1997 was the transition from the previous generation's dual I-Beam front suspension to a more sophisticated and refined setup that improved the ride quality and also contributed positively to the handling of the truck. However, the 1997 model eschewed some of the modern infotainment and safety features that would come in subsequent generations of the F-250 series.
