The 1997 Volvo 850 is part of the car's first and only generation which ran from 1993 through 1997. It's a front-wheel drive, mid-size car available in sedan and wagon body styles. The 850 comes with three different engine options - a base 2.4-liter 5-cylinder with 168 horsepower, a turbocharged variant with 190 horsepower, and the high-output T5-R model with a 240-horsepower turbocharged engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Notable features for the time include dual front airbags, optional anti-lock brakes, and an automatic locking differential. The interior boasted splash of luxury with heated front seats and real wood trim in higher trims.
