The 1999 Ford Taurus, a member of the car's fourth generation, is a front-wheel-drive midsize sedan known for its spacious interior and comfortable ride. Two engine options were available: a 3.0-liter V6 with 145 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque (standard on LX and SE trims), and a 3.0-liter V6 DOHC producing 200 horsepower (option for the SE, standard on the SHO trim). A four-speed automatic transmission was standard across all trims. The high-performance Taurus SHO stood out with a sport-tuned suspension and unique styling cues. On the safety front, Taurus had a decent list of features including dual front airbags, side-impact door beams, and child safety locks, while ABS was optional. Inside, the Taurus offered room for six, air conditioning, power accessories, and an AM/FM/cassette radio as standard.
