The 1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK is part of the first generation of the brand's compact luxury roadsters. Offered with a supercharged 2.3L inline-four engine that delivers 185 hp, or a 3.3L V6 that generates 215 hp, this model is famous for its retractable hardtop design, a first in its segment during its debut years. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a standard 5-speed automatic, but a 5-speed manual was also available.
