The 2000 Ford Explorer is a rugged mid-size SUV from Ford's second generation of Explorer vehicles. It comes in three models: XLS, XLT, and Limited. Two engine options are available: a standard 210-hp 4.0-liter V6 and a more powerful 215-hp 5.0-liter V8. Both are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with available four-wheel drive. Inside, the 2000 Explorer can seat up to seven passengers, and came equipped with standard infotainment features for its time, including AM/FM radio and a cassette player. Safety was also a considerable factor, with dual-front airbags, anti-lock brakes, and child safety rear door locks standard across all models.
