2000 Volkswagen New Beetle Overview

The 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle is a modern reinterpretation of the classic Beetle, spicing up the roads for the second generation. Available in GL, GLS, and GLX trims, it is powered by options of a 115-hp 2.0L inline-four or a 150-hp 1.8L turbocharged inline-four engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, in a front-wheel-drive configuration. A key safety feature was the addition of side airbags, while on the inside, the car offered an AM/FM cassette player as standard with an in-dash CD player and auxiliary gauge pack optional for higher trims. It charmed both customers and critics with its spunky and retro-looking design aesthetics. Known for its fun-to-drive nature, the New Beetle marked a successful revival of an iconic badge.
