2001 GMC Sonoma Overview

The 2001 GMC Sonoma is a compact pickup truck known for its versatility and ruggedness. In 2001, GMC offered two different engine options for the Sonoma: a 2.2L inline-four producing 120 horsepower and a 4.3L V6 delivering 190 horsepower. Both engines paired with a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. Available in two body styles and three trims, the GMC Sonoma could be customized to meet varying demands, from a basic work truck to a comfortable daily driver. The higher trims offered a host of creature comforts including air conditioning, power windows and locks, and a premium audio system. Though its interior design was considered simplistic for the time, all models came equipped with dual airbags and ABS brakes as standard safety features. The 2001 model year saw few changes, with some tweaks in the interior to enhance comfort and usability.
