The 2001 Mazda 626 is from the sixth and final generation of the midsize sedan, popular for its blend of comfort and sportiness. It is powered by either a 130-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder or a more robust 2.5-liter V6 that pumps out 170 hp. All models come with a five-speed manual transmission by default, with an option for a four-speed automatic. The Mazda 626's lineup featured four trims – the base LX, the upscale ES, and the performance-oriented Sport LX and Sport ES. Well-equipped, the 626 included safety features such as dual front airbags, side-impact door beams, and child safety rear door locks. Despite its age, the 626 included an AM/FM/CD audio system and cruise control.
