2002 BMW 7 Series Overview

The 2002 BMW 7 Series represented the launch of the fourth generation of BMW's flagship luxury sedan. Available in two trims, the 745i and 745Li, both models are powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine generating 325 horsepower, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system was yet to be introduced, making the 2002 7 Series a rear-wheel-drive vehicle. Inside, the 7 Series offered a state-of-the-art infotainment system, debuting the first version of BMW's iDrive system. Although controversial due to its complexity, iDrive was a leader in merging multiple vehicle controls into a single interface. Another revolution was the styling, the so-called 'Bangle Butt', which was divisive amongst critics and consumers. Regardless, BMW's reputation for driving dynamics, build quality, and luxury refinement held true in the 7 Series.
