The 2002 Ford Ranger marked the last model year before a major redesign. Sporting classic compact pickup styling and offered in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, the 2002 Ranger came with three engine options: the standard 2.3L inline four-cylinder delivering 143 hp, a 3.0L V6 making 154 hp, and a more bedecked 4.0L V6 producing 207 hp. Both five-speed manual and automatic transmissions were available. The available trims ranged from the basic XL to the well-kitted XLT and the sporty Edge. Standard features were minimal in the base XL, but stepped up with option packages and higher trims, including optional amenities like power windows and locks, a CD player, and keyless entry. Safety-wise, the 2002 Ranger offered standard dual front airbags with optional four-wheel ABS.
