Both models featured a standard four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine that produced 130 horsepower, while a 2.5-liter V6, producing 165 horsepower, was optional on the ES. All models were fitted with either a five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic. The 626 also boasted notable safety features, including dual front airbags, front side airbags, ABS brakes, and optional traction control.
