The 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is the 5th generation of the luxury auto maker's roadster line. Touted as the flagship in sporty luxury, this car came equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 that produced 302 horsepower. The transmission was a 5-speed automatic that sent power to the rear wheels. This coupe-convertible conversion came in two trims, SL500 and SL55 AMG. The latter boasted even more power with a supercharged 5.5-litre V8 that generated 493 horsepower. Safety features included antilock brakes (ABS), stability control, front-impact airbags, side-impact airbags, and overhead airbags. Luxury additions were an upscale Bose sound system and a touchscreen infotainment setup. The 2002 SL-Class boasted a retractable hard-top which was a significant upgrade from the previous generation.
