The 2002 Volkswagen GTI is part of the fourth generation and is known for its sporty, fun driving experience. Two trims are highlighted during this model year: the GTI 1.8T and the 2.8L VR6. The GTI 1.8T utilizes a turbocharged 1.8L 4-cylinder engine producing 180-horsepower, while the more powerful GTI VR6 features a 2.8L V6 engine putting out 201-horsepower. Both are standard with a five-speed manual transmission, with an optional four-speed automatic for the 1.8T and five-speed automatic for the VR6. Cars come equipped with front-wheel drive.
