The 2003 Mitsubishi Galant represents the eight generation of this midsize sedan. Buyers could choose between four trims: DE, ES, LS, and the sportier GTZ. Two engine options were available: a 2.4L 140 hp 4-cylinder for the DE and ES, and a 3.0L 195-hp V6 for the LS and GTZ. All models came with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and while the Galant lacked the innovational tech features seen today, it did offer keyless entry, CD player, and cruise control on all trims. As for safety features, it included dual front airbags, and the higher trims added ABS. 2003 marked the year when side airbags became an optional feature for the Galant.
