The 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche is part of the first generation of this unique full-size pickup/SUV hybrid. Available in two trims, the base and the upscale Z71, all models are powered by a standard 5.3L V8 engine with 295 horsepower, with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and a choice of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The Avalanche’s hallmark is its 'Midgate' system allowing a flexible configuration of cabin and cargo bed. Inside, standard features include a CD player and a multi-zone air conditioning, while higher trims offer a Bose sound system, leather and power seats. Safety highlights are ABS, stability control, and multiple airbags (front and side).
