The 2004 GMC Canyon, part of the first generation launched in this year, is a mid-size truck available in three distinct trims: Work Truck, SLE, and Z71. Engine options included a base 175-hp 2.8-liter 4-cylinder or a 220-hp 3.5-liter 5-cylinder, matched with either a 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive is standard, with four-wheel drive available. The signature infotainment system for this period was simple, with a basic stereo system. The safety features for the Canyon were also modest and included dual front airbags and ABS brakes. Later models would add more safety and tech features.
