The 2004 GMC Envoy XL is part of this model's first and only generation. The 'XL' designates an extended length version of the standard Envoy, offering increased cargo space and a third row of seats for seven-passenger capacity. Two available trims, SLE and SLT, come with rear-wheel-drive as standard, but four-wheel-drive is an option for both. Engine options include a 275-hp 4.2-liter inline-six, or a 5.3-liter V8 with 290 horsepower. A 4-speed automatic transmission is standard for all models. Notable features at the time included dual-zone climate control, a CD player, OnStar telematics, and optional leather upholstery. Known for towing capability and roominess, the Envoy XL was a valuable addition to the mid-2000s SUV market.
