The 2004 Mazda RX-8 is a unique sports car that revived Mazda's rotary engine heritage. The RX-8's only engine option was the 1.3-liter Renesis rotary engine, outputting 238 horsepower when paired with a six-speed manual transmission, or 197 horsepower with the four-speed automatic. Its rear-wheel-drive chassis was praised for balanced handling and agile performance. Featuring a sporty yet comfortable cabin, the RX-8 had an unconventional four-door setup, with rear "freestyle" doors to ease rear-seat access. Notable features included an in-dash six-disc CD changer, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and leather-trimmed upholstery. For safety, anti-lock brakes, dual front and side airbags, as well as traction control were standard across models.
