The 2004 Volvo V70 is a 2nd generation, mid-size, front-wheel drive station wagon. An optional all-wheel drive is available in certain trims. It offers a choice of five well-equipped trims: base 2.4, turbocharged 2.5T and 2.5T AWD, high-performance T5, and the top-of-the-line R. The base 2.4 trim has a 2.4-liter inline five-cylinder engine producing 168 horsepower, while the 2.5T trims get a turbocharged 2.5-liter five with 208 horsepower. The T5 boasts a 247-hp 2.3-liter inline-5, with the R-topped rated at a remarkably potent 300 horsepower from a 2.5-liter inline-5. Safety features as one might expect from Volvo, are plentiful. They include ABS, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length curtain-type airbags, and anti-whiplash front seats. The infotainment in the V70 includes a CD player and an optional integrated phone and satellite radio.
