The 2005 Dodge Durango represents the second generation of the mid-size SUV. It offers three powertrain options: a 210-hp 3.7L V6, a 230-hp 4.7L V8, and a monster 335-hp 5.7L HEMI V8 engine. All are paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission to provide RWD as standard with optional 4WD. The Durango is offered in four trim levels: ST, SLT, Adventurer, and top-of-the-range Limited. Prime features include dual-zone climate control, a CD player, power windows and locks, and in the higher trims, a DVD entertainment system and premium audio. Safety measures include front airbags and ABS, while an electronic stability system is optional. The 2005 Durango sports a refreshing redesign, with an increased size that provides a roomy interior for up to eight passengers; however, this size is reflected in its less impressive fuel economy.
