Initially introduced in 2004 as the performance version of the third-generation Mazda MX-5, the 2005 MAZDASPEED MX-5 comes with a turbocharged 1.8L I4 engine that delivered 178 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque, coupled to a short-throw six-speed manual transmission. Although it doesn't boast of the advanced driver-assistance features found in newer models, four-wheel anti-lock brakes and dual front airbags were standard. Prominent features include a limited-slip differential, Bilstein shocks, and 17-inch Racing Hart aluminum wheels. The model is beloved for its excellent handling and driver-focused experience, maintaining true to the MX-5's 'Jinba Ittai' (horse and rider as one) philosophy. In the U.S., it was only available for two model years - 2004 and 2005 making it a relatively rare and sought-after version of the iconic Mazda roadster.
