2006 Audi A3 Overview

The 2006 Audi A3, the first luxury compact to hit the U.S. market, was a part of the second generation of the A3 series. It was Audi's smallest and least expensive model based on the Volkswagen Golf platform. Available in 2.0T and 3.2 Quattro trims, the former had a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower while the latter boasted a 3.2-liter V6 generating 250 horsepower, both mated to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. Standard features on both included a 10-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and full power accessories. The 3.2 Quattro also had a standard all-wheel-drive system. Safety features included antilock brakes, stability control, and front-seat side airbags, with the option for rear side airbags. Navigation and leather seating were also available as upgrades. Its sporty feel, acceleration, and handling made up for its small size.
