The 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt is a compact car from the first generation of the Cobalt series. It was available in both coupe and sedan body styles, with four trims: base, LS, LT and SS. Powering the Cobalt was a standard 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine producing 145 horsepower, while the performance-enhanced SS version uses a 2.4-liter engine for 173 horsepower with an option for a supercharged 2.0-liter engine delivering 205 horsepower. All Cobalts used a standard five-speed manual transmission, with an option for a four-speed automatic. Inside, the Cobalt featured a basic yet decently equipped cabin, with available technology such as OnStar telematics and a seven-speaker Pioneer sound system. Safety features included dual front airbags, but unfortunately ABS was only optional in 2006 models.
