The 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser is from the vehicle's first generation and it has a unique retro-styled design reminiscent of old-school wagons. It comes with a standard 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine, generating 150 horsepower, coupled with a standard 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission, and is designed with front-wheel drive. The PT Cruiser Convertible debuted for this model year, adding a fresh dimension to the lineup. There are six available trims: Base, Limited, Touring, GT, Convertible, and Street Cruiser Route 66. The higher trims offer turbocharging for added performance. Top-level trims also boast additional leather seating and a moonroof. In terms of tech, it offers a standard AM/FM radio with CD player, however, its options and features are more basic compared to contemporary rivals. Safety is handled by standard multi-stage front airbags and optional side airbags.
