The 2006 Ford Five Hundred is a full-size sedan known for its cavernous interior space and a wealth of comfort features. While it is part of the only generation of Five Hundred, Ford's design cues with this model would become significant in the subsequent Ford Taurus. It was offered in three trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited. All models were outfitted with a 3.0-liter Duratec V6 engine, generating 203 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, and was available in both front-wheel (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. Both the FWD and AWD versions came with a 6-speed automatic transmission. In terms of infotainment, a touch-screen navigation system was an optional add-on, along with Audiophile sound system. Some of the safety features included anti-lock brakes, front-seat side airbags, and curtain-type airbags that provide head protection for outboard passengers in both rows. However, its conservative styling and sedate performance made it a less exciting but practical choice in the sedan market.
