The 8th generation 2006 Honda Civic marked a significant redesign for the model, with a more progressive and futuristic look inside and out. Three main trims were available, namely, the entry-level DX, mid-range LX, and top-tier EX. The sedan was equipped with a 1.8-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, generating 140 horsepower, mated to a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. A performance-based Si variant offered a 197-hp 2.0l i4 engine with 6-speed manual. The Civic Hybrid was powered by a 1.3-liter engine paired to an electric motor. Key safety features included dual front-side airbags, side curtain-type airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. Entertainment was served by an AM/FM/CD stereo system, while higher trims gained a touchscreen and navigation.
