The 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class was an attempt to blend the features of a luxury SUV, a wagon and a minivan. It offered two models: the R350 with a 268-horsepower V6 and the R500 with a 302-horsepower V8. Both feature a seven-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes-Benz's 4MATIC AWD system. Inside, the R-Class accommodated six passengers with second-row captain's chairs and a third-row bench. Standard equipment included COMAND infotainment system, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and a power rear liftgate. Safety features comprised the Mercedes' Pre-Safe system, which prepares the car for an impending collision, side curtain airbags for all three rows and stability control.
