The 2006 Nissan Maxima belongs to the sixth generation of Nissan's upscale, midsize sedan. It offers a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 265 horsepower, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Both front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive options were available. Two trims levels were available: 3.5 SE and 3.5 SL. The 3.5 SE included sport-oriented suspension tuning, while the 3.5 SL came with a more comfort-oriented ride. The 2006 model year introduced optional stability control. Standard features included a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, full power accessories, and a CD player. Available features included a Bose audio system, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and dual-zone automatic climate control. A SkyView panoramic sunroof was also a unique feature of the Maxima during this generation. All Nissan Maxima models included front-seat side airbags and full-length curtain-type airbags.
