The 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, part of the car’s fifth generation, is a compact sedan with a selection of four engine options: a 2.5-liter inline-5 with 150 horsepower, a 1.9-liter TDI (Turbocharged Direct Injection) offering 100 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 producing 200 horsepower. There’s also a more powerful 3.2-liter V6 found in the performance-oriented GLI trim. Trims include the base model, 2.5, TDI, 2.0T and the sportier GLI. All are front-wheel drive, with a standard five-speed manual transmission, or a six-speed automatic with Tiptronic and Sport mode. Key safety features include antilock brakes, traction and stability control, and side curtain protection airbags. Inside, features like a 10-speaker sound system, heated leatherette seats, and a sunroof were available. Notable updates for 2006 included a complete redesign and a more upscale interior.
