The 2006 Volkswagen Passat, part of the fifth generation, is a sophisticated mid-size sedan offering a balance of performance and practicality. It comes in three trim levels: base 2.0T, luxury 3.6L, and sporty 3.6L 4motion. The 2.0T houses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine churning out 200 horsepower, while the 3.6L versions are powered by a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 280 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, with an optional manual mode available on the 2.0T. The 3.6L 4motion offers Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The Passat is well-equipped with safety features including antilock brakes, stability control, and front-side and full-length curtain-type airbags. The infotainment system offers premium features like an in-dash six-CD changer and satellite radio. The 2006 model year also introduced a redesign with more square-edged styling and more spacious interiors.
