The 2006 Volkswagen Phaeton is a luxury sedan only produced for two years in the United States. It was built as a 4-door saloon with a lengthened wheelbase and constantly received commendations for its quiet and comfortable ride. The Phaeton was available in V8 and W12 engine options, delivering 335 hp and 444 hp, respectively, and paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Even so, the Phaeton had trouble finding its place in the market, more due to the brand's reputation than the vehicle's capabilities. The 2006 version was the last of its generation in the U.S.
