The 2006 Volvo S80 is a luxury sedan renowned for safety and elegance. The second-generation model comes in two trims: the 2.5T and the turbocharged 2.5T AWD, each featuring a 208-hp 2.5-liter inline-five engine coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. An optional 4.4L V8 producing 311 horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission was introduced in this model year, making it the first Volvo sedan model to be powered with a V8 engine. Inside, the S80 spoils occupants with upscale materials, an advanced infotainment system, and excellent comfort, providing a fitting match to its dignified exterior design. Safety innovations for the time included side-curtain airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and WHIPS (a system to prevent whiplash injuries). Further underscoring Volvo's commitment to safety is the optional Collision Avoidance Package, equipped with adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake assist, and other features to help mitigate accidents.
