The 2008 Dodge Nitro, a midsize SUV, was available in three trims: the basic SXT, mid-level SLT, and the high-performance R/T. All the models were equipped with a standard five-speed automatic transmission, with the SXT and the SLT sporting a 3.7-liter V6 engine, producing 210 horsepower, and the R/T possessing a 4.0-liter V6 with a considerable increase in power output at 260 horsepower. Both RWD and 4WD versions were provided for each of the trims. In terms of infotainment, the Nitro employed a standard CD/MP3 player, with UConnect hands-free communication system available as an option. A notable safety feature in the lineup was the Electronic Stability Program, which incorporated Anti-lock Brake System, All-speed Traction Control, and Electronic Roll Mitigation to augment the vehicle's stability and resistance against rollovers.
