2008 Ford Explorer Sport Overview

The 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac is notable for ushering in a new breed of more refined, road-focused SUVs. Retaining the utility of a pick-up truck with the passenger room of an SUV, the Sport Trac was ahead of its time. Featuring a 4.0L V6 engine making 210 horsepower and a 292-hp 4.6L V8 option, both engines are mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. While RWD was standard, a ControlTrac four-wheel drive system was available. The Sport Trac came in XLT and Limited trims. Inside, Ford offered high-end features such as a 6.5-inch touchscreen navigation system and Sync infotainment system by Microsoft, which was a novelty in the year 2008. The optional Safety Canopy System included side curtain airbags and a rollover sensor, providing an added layer of safety.
