The 2008 Ford Fusion, part of the first generation, comes with either a four-cylinder or a V6 engine. The 2.3L four-cylinder engine offers 160 horsepower, and the 3.0L V6 engine boasts a more robust 221 horsepower. All models carry a five-speed manual or automatic transmission, while V6 versions can upgrade to a six-speed automatic. The Fusion is available in three trims: S, SE, and SEL. Safety equipment includes front-seat side airbags, full-length curtain-type airbags, anti-lock brakes, and a crash sensor system that unlocks the doors and turns on the hazard flashers. The Fusion also comes with entertainment features, such as a CD player, an auxiliary input jack, and the optional DVD-based navigation system with a 6.5-inch screen. For 2008, anti-lock brakes became standard across all models, along with a tire pressure monitoring system.
